How to get into Exercising

Don’t enjoy the thought of getting up from your comfortable couch to go exercise? You only have one body, and it is up to you on how you want to use it. If you are like most people this time of the year, you want to get into better shape. Regular exercise gives you a better quality of life and better overall health. Whether that be doing spin classes at your local gym or hiking up a mountain, we all need to find a workout we enjoy to help make the most out of our bodies.

For some, it can be hard to find a workout that does not feel like a chore every day. It might be a good idea to ask yourself “what do you love?” Don’t enjoy lifting weights? Resistance training is an important part to keeping your body strong. But you don’t need to hit the weight rack in order to do so. You could try resistance bands or even use your own body weight as resistance. Practicing exercises like push-ups, squats, lunges, and planks are all great ways to get strong without feeling like you need to lift heavy weights. Just make sure you have the proper form and start off with low reps.

You may also want to consider making your workouts more social. Sure, going for a run by yourself might be enjoyable but not everyone likes that. If you are a more social person, consider working out with friends or your significant other. Find classes where you can get motivated by other people’s energy. Cardio is a great way to lose weight and burn calories. But you don’t have to go for a run to get a good cardio exercise going. There are many other ways to get cardio in if you hate running. You could join dance classes or do your own circuit training course. Circuit training can be fun because you are picking up one exercise for a minute or two before moving on to the next exercise.

All in all, you should find a workout routine you enjoy. There are plenty of options to choose from that might help you figure out what you like. You can try a bunch of activities before focusing on the routine you love.
